Letter Writing - Thank You Note
When writing a note, remember your purpose. You want to say ‘thank-you’and let the person know you appreciate his or her thoughtfulness. Notice that Jill did not just say ‘thanks.’ She also told her aunt howmuch she liked the present and what she liked about it. You should always chose one detail that you especially enjoyed, and be specific.
For example;
March 9, 2001 (date)
Dear Aunt Rose, (greeting)
Thank-you for the beautiful, hand-knitted jumper you sent me for my birthday. (what you are thankful for)
It is so bright and cheerful, just perfect for spring. I have lots of things to wear with it. I really appreciate all the time you spent making the sweater, and I will think of you when I wear it. (why you like the gift)
Your niece, (closing)
Jill (signature)
