A bit of background information first for this weeks topic.

There was a theory of philosophy in China hundreds of years ago called Legalism. This basically stated that laws were necessary for governments to rule their people, as without them there would be disorder and chaos. The theory was used for one emperor's period of rule, and then changed to Confucianism (which still exists today to a certain extent).

So, the topic this week is:

What would happen if there were no laws?

  • No reference to Legalism is needed, this is your own work
  • Word Limit is 150

What would happen if there were no laws?

If there were no laws, the world would be disorder and chaos. I can figure out that there would be a lot of fighting and war everywhere, no one would live well on earth.

In my opinion, human beings are inclined to convenient and selfish behaviors. For example, if traffic lights are in trouble, it will be disorder immediately at the cross as everyone wants to pass away quickly and no one wants to wait for a while so that it is crowded and no one can't move any step except for hearing the loudspeaker of cars shouting. So if humans are allowed to engage in their natural proclivities, the result will be conflicted and social disorder.

If there were no equal laws, the same chaos would happen. As reported, it happened riots in a place where there were a lot of cars and a government building to be burned, as a local officer raped a teenage girl and killed her, the local court judged that she suicided. Laws must be enforced impartially, no matter who they are.

So people need a strong government and a carefully devised code of law, along with a policing force that will stringently and impartially enforce these rules and punish harshly even the most minoral infractions.

If there were no laws, the world would have disorder and chaos. I believe can figure out (too informal) that there would be a lot of fighting and war everywhere, and no one could live safely on earth.

In my opinion, human beings are inclined to behave selfishly. For example, if traffic lights were to malfunction in trouble, there would it will be immediate disorder at the cross as everyone would wants to cross without and no one wants to waiting for others. The result is total gridlock with only the sound of car horns. a while so that it is crowded and no one can't move any step except for hearing the loudspeaker of cars shouting. So if humans were allowed to engage in their natural proclivities, the result would be conflicted and social disorder.

If there were no equal laws, the same chaos would happen. As has been previously reported, riots occurred when a local court judged that a girl had committed suicide when if fact a local officer had raped an killed her. People were furious and an attempt to burn the courthouse was made. Hence, laws must be enforced impartially regardless of , no matter who is being punished.

Therefore, people need a strong government and a carefully devised system of law, along with a police force that will stringently and impartially enforce these rules and punish harshly even the most minoral infractions.

Hi Luke,

Could you please rewrite the following sentences? I am confused by its structure. Is that "occurred" should be preserved? and there are two "when", I don't know what is the main clause. Is that "if fact" should be "in fact",typing wrong?

As has been previously reported, riots occurred when a local court judged that a girl had committed suicide when if fact a local officer had raped an killed her. People were furious and an attempt to burn the courthouse was made.

Hi Jane,

Looks like I made a few mistakes, but I always do! Here it is again, perfectly written.

As has been previously reported, riots occurred when a local court judged that a girl had committed suicide. The anger was justified because a local officer had in fact raped and killed her. People were furious and an attempt to burn the courthouse was made.

To reduce the use of when, I broke the first sentence off from the rape remark. It's definitely occurred, not preserved (meaning:  to keep in an unaltered condition)

What would happen if there were no laws?

Since prehistory  man needed to have some rules to live  better with others.
These weren't written rules but every single man acknowledged their importance because, in this way, they could prevent them from animals and other risks.

If there were no laws, the human society wouldn't exist and every man would choose the best thing for himself, hurting other people deeply.
All our world is orderly by rules and laws, in every moment of our day either we are working or we are spending our free time, we have to submit to laws.
This fact sounds not very democratic but it is really the base for the legacy and the respect, without laws would be only roits and wars.

When you listen to the news on tv or you read a newspaper you can know the effects of absence or respect of laws, people suffer many hardship and their country is, usually, in the hands of few  bad men.
These people look at  nations which have a strong regulation and, I suppose, they would prefer to live with some limitations rather than in a "wild country"

If there were no laws, our society would turn into hell because there would be many little individuals who would dictate their own laws and rules to us and enforce them in the most brutal way. These little individuals could be killers, murderers, rapists, kidnappers and our existence would be at the mercy of these little individuals.

If there were no laws, then the world would go into primitive age. There would be no civilization, no society and we will again become "Early man". It is the laws  which has helped us to grow from an uncivilized human being into a civilized one.
If there is no law and order, there would be no relationship.

Laws are like the directions on the roads which help us to reach our destination. If there are no laws then we would never be able to attain our goals.
Rules and regulations are necessary for a society to exist. If there are no rules , then each individual will try to make their own rules. And they will try to enforce those rules on each other, which in turn would result in wars, killings and chaos.

So for the world to exist, laws and rules play the crucial roles. Laws are needed to maintain the rhythm of life

What would happen if there were no laws?

In the world, there are many kinds of people.  It is necessary to have laws to control people to live together without problems. In my opinion, if there were no law, there would been two events from two situations.

If people respect religions, they can live together in their social with peaceful.  The principles of all religions teach people do only the good things.  People believe that if they do the bed things, they are sin so the religions are like behavior laws.

On the other hand, if people don’t respect religion or don’t have any rules to hold, maybe the social would have agitated.  There would been nothing to control behavior of people.  People would not afraid to do guilty or crime because there would not been punishment.

Therefore, the most important thing that make people can live together with happiness is moral.  However, we can’t deny the different kinds of people so the laws are still important at present.

Humankind is the most intelligent creature on earth and can misuse their knowledge to harm one another, animals or the environment in the absence of laws. Law is a collection of rules which can be imposed by authorities, leaders and/or government. Laws are made to regulate the society to work in peace and harmony.

Every country has different laws to control the crime, dispute or any harmful activity. These laws are changed by the governing party from time to time. In dictatorship law can only be changed by the top government officials but in democracy the common public can take part in the changing of rules. There are international laws between different countries to regulate boundaries, illegal immigration and other relationship issues.

Law is the significant tool for a government to protect its citizen. Without these laws human can do whatever they feel like and can harm the whole population. Law set rules for us to live in a harmonious way with each other and there are penalties for people who do not follow the rules.

Law is important to live in a humanized society. Existence of a society can not be possible without the law. Law is the most basic and necessary institution for the existence of a civilized society.

What happened if there were no laws?

Law is the society rules established to set as the guidelines for people to follow. Without it, the society would be in pandemonium.  Everyone would do right in their own eyes with no regard for the welfare of others.

Like anything else, some laws are good and some aren't. Law that benefits society and protects the freedom of the citizen is considered to be the good law. For example, it prevents military from exerting authority over civilian population.  We are better off without the one that takes away freedom from us. Not only is it unconstitutional but also against human right. Such the law allows an authority to search our property without proper authorization or to detain us.

The purpose of law is to protect and expand freedom; however, it is our duty as a citizen of the representative government to hold the representative true to their commitment in order to prevent the special interest from taking over or making laws that throw the benefits of people out of the window.
