Yes mobile phones killed letter writing. Actually, the damage was done long back when the wide use of phones (land lines) started to take place instead of letter writing. But I think it is done for the betterment of the human being.

We human always try to make our life simpler. We all want a faster way of communication and don’t want to go through the hassle of writing a letter, cell phones serve the purpose and it’s quick. Having a phone was a status symbol in the past but now it’s very common.

Being far from my family I also prefer to use phones instead of writing a letter. Phone is an instant medium to communicate while it takes a while to get the same message through letters. I can talk to my parents as many times as I want and can share my happiness instantly and it is only made possible by phones.

So phones did take over the letter writing but they improved the mode of communication. We can talk to anyone in the other side of the world in a blink of an eye by cell phones.

Hi Learneng,

I personally never write letters, and rarely send any texts either. Technology has passed me by!

Mobile phone will kill letter writing.
First of all I agree with this topic. On the other hand it is an advantage. When we talk about globalization the mobile phones are very important and essential. The world is changing very fast. So we have to move with the world.
This remind me my past, I remember when my grand mother passed away, We have to inform to her daughter who was staying in countryside. By that time there were not phone facilities. (1993).So we sent a telegram. After 3 days it reached to her. By that moment instead of letter writing if we had a phone. There were no words to express how it’s worth.
Since I'm in Singapore the mobile phone is very important to me than writing letters. When I feel free I can talk with my family. When we are writing letters, It will take time to get the reply. From mobile phone we can get their idea while we are talking with them.

My opinion is having a mobile phone is very important than letter writing.

Hi Shirani,

Welcome to the homework section, each week a new topic. I'm glad to have you here, and I hope it helps.

Mobile Phone Will Kill Letter Writing

With the technology developing, new communication ways will instead of the traditional ways, like mobile phones will kill letter writing.

Mobile phone becomes one of the main communication tools. If you want to talk to your friend, you can either call for him/her with mobile phone no matter where he/she is or leave messages to call back if he/she can't talk. Sometimes if want to see him/her, you can use the mobile phone with camera. It is more convenient and more quick as it doesn't need much time to solve problems, even if one is in the north  hemisphere and another in the south. Convenient culture makes people to choose mobile phone.

Nowadays we pay more attentions to protect our environments. As more and more services such as email, message and video can be provided by mobile phone, it saves a lot of paper.  It will save more than 1000,000,000 kilograms coal as the result of reducing paper to be used, if the government, enterprises and schools use automatized office system. In aspect of the environment, letter writing is not a good communication way any more as using a lot of paper.

Not only convenience but also protecting environment, mobile phone will kill letter writing at last.

Hi Janestory,

I made you the moderator for the first three sections of the chat topics, is that alright? Let me know if you agree with this Tongue

Yes, Mobile phones will and have killed letter writing; but for good!
This is a competitive and fast paced world and the communication has to be quick and effective. In earlier days when we didn’t have mobile phone, we used to rely on writing letters. No matter how fast the courier service is, a letter will take at least 24 hours to reach the destination, but now in the mobile phone era we can communicate in a matter of seconds and that has changed the dynamics of our everyday life.
Mobile phones have made our life much easier.  If you are in some emergency, the quickest way to reach people is mobile phone.
Yes, Mobile phone has killed the traditional writing practice but has also introduced a new style of writing, i.e. text messaging Smiley.

Mobile phones are effective tools to communicate in a fast and easy way. This is required by our daily life which requires quick decisions and fast communications. However I don't think they can substitute letters at all. I use a mobile phone every day to get in touch with my relatives and friends and also for work, it is really useful and I cannot live without it anymore. Anyway when I receive a letter I feel good and my earth starts to wonder who has sent it to me and reading through it holding it into my hands make me feel closer to the person who wrote it. These feelings never come with an SMS or a mobile phone call, they're too fast to let you have the time to think about it before seeing who's calling you.

A nice passage about mobile phones and letter writing, but not really an essay. It's more effective if you split your work into paragraphs of main ideas.

It probably will.
Today's fast movig life, mobile phones are leadering the way to comunicate all over the world.
I don't think mobiles kill the writing completely but  I'm sure we're going to see a revolution
sooner or later.
For mobiles kill or replace writing ,they would need a folding screen,a big databasic, would have to
edit easily as a Pc,to do it wiht a mobile would need a large key boerd or a recognition voice.

Just imagine you can read newspapers online for free,if writing paper disappears a lot of people
will lose their job .

In coclusion writing paper has now a good health but in the future things will de different,
as you know nothing lasts for ever and that one won't be an exception,

Luke ,it's taken me a long time to write those words,I'm not used to do it.

Hi Pep,

Writing a foreign language is really hard, and more precise that spoken. What you have done is very good, and you'll find that it get;s easier with practice. Congratulations on writing this article, and I hope my corrections help

The Mobile Phones Will Kill Letter Writing

Nowadays the day life of people change from previous because of influence of high communicate technology.  One of update technology that people prefer is mobiles telephone, so maybe mobile phone will kill an old fashion communicate like letter writing in the future.

The important reason is mobile phones can do many duties instead of writing letter.  For example, we can write messages by mobile phones without using paper and envelop.  Moreover, some model of mobile phones can connect internet so we can send email via mobile phones.  It is no doubt that now the number of letter at post office decrease from before.

The next reason is using mobile phones to communicate is more convenient than sending letter writing.  Mobile phones don’t need the other senders like the postmen. We can send messages by ourselves.  In addition, people who want to send the letter have to find the postbox.  In case of we want to send express letter, the post offices have limit time from 8.30-16.30 on weekday while mobile phones can call or send messages all 24 hours.

At present in Thailand, telegram has been killed completely since May 1, 2008 because of high technology.  Therefore, it is high possible that in the future the writing letter will be stopped and instead by using mobile phones.

Hi Jasmine,

Good essay structure and easy to follow. I would like others to take notice of this essay as an example of a structured approach, rather than written as an article. Nice attempt  Smiley

The Mobile Phones Will Kill Letter Writing

Nowadays the daily lives of people are dramatically different from the past because of the influence of high communication technology.  One example of up-to-date technology that people prefer are mobiles telephones. In my opinion so maybe mobile phones might kill an old fashioned means of communication like letter writing in the future.

One important reason is that mobile phones can perform many duties which letters can't instead of writing letter.  For example, we can write messages by mobile phones without using paper and envelopes.  Moreover, some model of mobile phones can connect to the internet so we can also send emails via mobile phonesThere is no doubt that now the number of letters in the post office has decreased from past levels.

Another reason is that using mobile phones to communicate is more convenient than sending letters writing.  Mobile phones don’t need the many outside influences, senders such as postmen. We can send messages by ourselves.  In addition, people who want to send the letters have to find a postbox.  In the case of trying we want to send express letters, the post offices have limited opening times from 8.30-16.30 on weekdays, but mobile phones can call or send messages all 24 hours a day.

From the 1st of May, 2008 in Thailand, sending telegrams were discontinued completely because of high technology.  Therefore, it is highly possible that in the future, the writing letter will be stopped and replaced instead by using mobile phones.

Mobile phones will kill letter writing

Mobile phones have become an essential part of our daily lives because of higher technology that has been constantly upgraded to offer the better and the faster versions.  They will eventually kill letter writing; however, a better way of communication will likely be invented to replace accordingly.

One of the reasons a traditional letter writing will be exterminated is that mobile phones are exceptionally convenient and fast to use. Within a few seconds, data in the forms of voices, text messages, and pictures, can be sent and received simultaneously.

Secondly, letter writing requires appropriate stationery and a carefully chosen language depending upon a relationship with a recipient. In terms of reaching a destination, it's questionable whether or not an unregistered mail will be misplaced.

Mobile phones might gradually eliminate letter writing; however, human beings will always find a better way to replace with something more advanced.
