This is the practice thread for the present perfect tense. Include your sentence as a reply to this thread and I'll check it.
The present perfect tense is of the form subject + auxiliary verb 'have' + past participle It is used in the following ways;
General experience – I have travelled to Europe Actions carried out at an uncompleted time period – I have worked hard this week True in the past and present, but not necessarily the future – I have enjoyed movies my whole life Past actions with present results – I’ve got a sports injury

I haven't seen any movie in a while. I haven't finished my tea yet. I have been to Singapore. She has been in and out of the office. It's been gloomy since yesterday.

I have lived in that town for two years. They haven't had a chance to see the amusement park. She has prepared the meal for the guests. My dog has eaten his food. We have had a big argument about it.

Hi Learneng, I haven't marked any tenses for a while. It seems only you actually attempt them, so bully for you (meaning 'well done'). ~~~ I have lived in that town for two years. They haven't had a chance to see the amusement park. She has prepared the meal for the guests. My dog has eaten his food. We have had a big argument about it. (this feels a bit wrong, since the argument must have ended, hence no longer present tense, although I guess there are times when it is correct...)

I always thought "bully" is a noun which means A person who deliberately intimidates or is cruel to weaker people. And never used it in any other form but just now I checked my online dictionary and found out that it's an adjective as well which means very good. Another new thing to learn...

This is my favorite tense, so here goes some more attempts:
I haven't had a chance to finish my homework assignments. I have thought a lot but nothing is coming into my mind for the essays. They haven't showed-up for the film. She hasn't read this book. She has gotten a lot of praise for her work.

Hi Learneng, Why is it your favourite tense? I never thought about having a favourite, but I suppose I use some more than others. Anyway.... I haven't had a chance to finish my homework assignments. I have thought a lot but nothing is coming into my mind for the essays. They haven't shown up for the film. She hasn't read this book. She has gotten a lot of praise for her work. ( gotten is sometimes looked down upon as being bad English, so you could write received)

Hi Mistrelli63, Nice to have you posting here, as Learneng was getting a little lonely as the only poster (is that right Learneng?). Great sentences too! I have worked as a teacher since I was young / from childhood She has studied hard / diligently these days He has coached a volleyball team for years I have just finished my cup of tea Haven't you eaten yet?

I would like to improve my grammar, so you are looking for sentence incorrectly. I am grateful to you for your help.
I have drunk a bit of beer. I have left out my house when the phone was ring up. The iron has heated when the plug was connecting in. She has worn a new dress.

Hi Jack, I'll try to correct your tenses, so here are your alterations; I have drunk some a bit of beer. I have left out my house when the phone was ring up. The iron has turned on heated when the plug was connecting in. She has worn a new dress. Remember that if you include extra information in the sentence, the tense must match too.

Hi Luke,
It's my favorite because it's the only one I understand clearly while it take me a while to form a sentence using other tenses.
Hi Jack, Welcome to my world. I was the only one who was posting in this section of the forum. Yes Luke, I was feeling lonely but thanks to Jack I no more feel lonely.
Learneng PS: Luke I tried different sentences this time. I hope they are right. ---------------------------------------------- I have had a glass of water. I have preconceived notions about this trip. He has proposed a plan to save energy. The entire forest has burned down in the wild fire. The tree has bent down by the force of wind.

Hi Learneng, Glad to see there are a couple of you now, it's nice to have a buddy. I have had a glass of water. I have had preconceived notions about this trip. (preconceived = adjective, not past participle) He has proposed a plan to save energy. The entire forest has burned down in the wild fire. The tree has been bent by the force of wind.
