This is the practice thread for the present continuous tense. Include your sentence as a reply to this thread and I'll check it.

The present continuous tense is of the form subject + auxiliary verb 'be' + verb(ing)
It is used in the following ways;

Action in progress – I’m watching and learning
Temp action (may not be in progress) – I’m learning another language
Frequent actions – She is often out jogging
Background events – The clock struck one when I was jogging past the church
Developing situations – The weather’s warming up
Regular action – John is often working these days

Right now I am writing this post.
I am thinking about what to do next.
I am drinking tea.
She is always complaining about the traffic.
I am studying English so I can communicate to my co-workers without any shy.

H Learneng,

Again, some great sentences. I just changed one, but not the grammar aspect of it. Shy is an adjective and so we can't use any.

Right now I am writing this post. Smiley

She is always complaining about the traffic. Smiley
I am studying English so I can communicate with my co-workers without any shy confidently. Wink

I'm thinking and writing at the same time.
I'm not working at the moment.
I'm running out of paper.
XX, your phone is ringing.
XX's answering her phone.

Hi Learneng,

It seems you are the only one brave enough to try out their tenses so far, and you are really going for it too! Keep them coming, as they really do help me to recognise and correct them.

'XX, your phone is ringing.'
XX's answering her phone / XX is answering her phone (sounds better in written English)

Hi Jack,

Very good sentences Jack, keep them coming. What do you mean by blinding? This is English slang which means really good, but is this what you intended?
