I have two dogs Sunny (older) and Millie. Here is Sunny's picture. Sunny is a Golden Retriever mix while Millie, is a German shepherd mix. I don't have any recent picture of Millie at present but once my daughter comes back from her camp I'll ask her to take some pictures of Millie.

What a beautiful dog!

I have read about your dogs before and pictured them in my mind, but I never thought it would be so handsome. This might sound strange, but I'm so glad to see a normal-sized dog. In Beijing everyone lives in flats, and so if they get a dog, it's always one of those miniature things. Small and snappy.

My uncle used to have an Irish wolfhound, have you heard of it? As a kid I thought it was massive, and very strong. Talking of wolves, a local man has a wolf near me. Bear in mind that this is the middle of Beijing, not the country. The wolf is massive, about twice as big as your dog, with dark eyes and huge teeth. Very scary. Angry

Hi Learneng

Sunny has a beautiful coat of fur!
Do they stay inside your house? In my country, almost all dogs stay outside the house to keep floors clean. We also take off our shoes when we go into our house by the same reason.

By the way, I love big dogs like Sunny and Millie.

Learneng,

Golden Retriever is known to be smart, obedient, and easily trained. Way before 'Lassie'  became very popular, 'Rin Tin Tin' played by German Sheppard had been the very famous children TV series. I must have watched it 10 years after it had already been televised in America. I don't remember anything much except its name.
I had had Border Collier for 12 years before losing her on a full moon night.  She was a tennis ball maniac. We had started her with a Frisbee but she didn't seem to care much for it. Later on, we tried the tennis ball, and it was a mistake. The dog would never leave us alone; she was so hyper that we could hardly keep up with her.  What kind of toys do Sunny and Millie like to play Do you take them out for a walk often?

Hi Luke,

Thanks…I’m not a big fan of small dogs either. Sunny is the perfect size for our house hold. He doesn’t look scary but when he growls, he can be fearsome. Irish wolfhounds are massive but they are not that scary looking. I can’t imagine keeping a wolf as a pet. How much ever you try to domesticate them, I think they will still have that wild characteristic in them.

Hi Cornus,

Thanks…Yes, his fur is beautiful and shiny. It’s just that I had to do a lot of vacuuming during the shading seasons. How much ever you clean but still you can find his fur everywhere in the house.

We live in the New England area of the US and I’m not sure they can withstand the outside weather. They are indoor pets. My husband had a dog when he was in India and that dog used to stay outside. We also don’t bring our shoes inside the house here in the US but I don’t expect my guests to remove there shoes so only guests are exception to it.

Sunny is big dog but Millie didn’t grow at all. That’s what happens when you adopt them, you are not sure about their breed. Sunny looks like Golden Retriever and has a collie mix so he grew big. Whilst, Millie looks like German shepherd but she has a dominant gene of beagle therefore she didn’t grow at all. It’s funny to see a miniature German shepherd.

Hi Cayte,

Border Collies are also very good breed, I like them. I realized that having two dogs doesn’t require you to play a lot with them since they utilize most of there energy playing with each other. Sunny and Millie like to play with each other a lot. Sunny is quite a laid back but Millie doesn’t allow him to sit idle for a long. They have many toys and fight over almost everything (nothing is favorite as such). Although, Millie always thinks that Sunny’s toy is better than hers so she follows him around until he gives her that toy. I can’t take them for a walk on a regular basis with my demanding schedule but they get enough exercise playing in my backyard. That’s why we adopted a second dog to give the first one company.

Learneng,

I'm glad to hear that your two doggies have plenty of exercises. Do you realize that they make you be a kind person? In other word, your strong heart goes softer. A feeling is indescribable.

Yes Cayte, I have seen a reduction in fight between us (me and my husband) after we adopted them so there is a change in our personalities because of them.
