Hi everyone,

This is the place to post any questions you have about grammar. You can ask questions and I'll try to answer them as clearly as possible.

Hi Luke,

Nice to see you in here, I am not sure whether you remember me or not from Lynn's. First of congratulation on starting a website to help people like me who are interested in learning English. It's nice for me and now I can practice my language at two places...

My question is, when I form the below sentences,

I went to the grocery shop yesterday.
Yesterday, I went to the grocery shop.

My daughter says the first one is the right way, so I want to know is there a rule to follow? Huh?

Thanks,

Hi Learneng,

It's great to have you here. I disappeared from the other site because my own project was taking up so much of my time. It's possible that I may return there, but for now I am putting all my attention in to building aenglish.net.

I'm so glad you visited me, and would like to extend the same offer for your to post freely about whatever you want and I'll always check it.

So, in response to your question, both sentences are grammatically correct. As a complete sentence the second example sounds better, but the first sentence seems to be better when used as an initial clause of a larger sentence;

I went to the grocery shop yesterday to buy some apples

I hope that helps  Cheesy

Hi Posch,

Welcome to the forum. I would recommend you to start writing small sentences in English. Our teacher Luke corrects them and that will help you gain more confidence and will improve your writing.
