Conjunctions are useful in putting nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and clauses together when making sentences. There are seven coordinating conjunctions: and, but, or, nor, for, yet, so.

Hi All,

In this thread we will be writing a sentence using any of the above conjunctions.

Conjunctions work when you try to connect two parts of a sentence together to make a longer and more complex clause. My son hasn't arrived yet is a single clause without a conjunction.

Try, my son hasn't arrived yet so we'll wait a little longer

That's a perfectly fine sentence Learneng. You could also write;

We were planning to go to the beach but we'll go to a park instead

Manaus which is located in the heart of the Amazon rain forest is the Amazonas state capital and one to get there must rely on either boat or plane.

Harpia

Manaus, which is located in the heart of the Amazon rain forest, is the Amazon's state capital and one to get there must rely on either boat or plane.

This sentence is a little over-complicated because it has too many clauses. Break it into two sections and you can use a conjunction in the former part (the relationship between these two parts is strongest, so keep them in a single sentence):

Manaus is located in the heart of the Amazon rain forest and is the Amazon's state capital. To get there you must take either a boat or a plane.
