Hi Luke,

Thanks for the forum of my choice. I was wondering would it be possible for you to start a chat session in ivisit to improve conversational skills of learners like us? Also, another chat session here on this forum, so we can chat and whenever you get a chance, you can correct our posts.

Thanks,
Learneng

Hi Learneng,

I never actually used the ivisit tool before, so could you explain what it is please. I know it was something available on Lynne's site, but I didn't try it out.

In regards to the chat session in this forum, do you mean verbal or written? Is it something like the tool I have in the main part of the site on the right hand side for instant written chat?

Verbal and written both. For verbal we can visit ivisit and for written I was thinking of something like this:   http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mble/F2712586?thread=3752693&skip=1220&show=20 . I am melearneng in here and I practice my writing by posting messages to my virtual friends. Only disadvantage of that forum is that I don't know whether I wrote the right sentence or not. I was planning on inviting all my my friends from that website to join here. BTW, I loved the link you have on the main part of the site. Can't believe I missed that. Is it ok if I ask you some quick/small sentences in there for a quick correction. That would be the best thing for me...

Downloading ivisit software is very simple and you can chat the same way as MSN  or yahoo messenger.

Hi Learneng,

I think the chat system would be a good idea, and I am doing some research into the best option available. I might be able to put a chat box into this forum like in the main site, although it'll take a little time for me to tweak it so that it works.

I ask you to bear with me on it. And yes, feel free to chat in the main section with me.

Hi Luke,

I noticed that when you click on the member's name to see his/her profile you can see their email addresses too. I tried for 2-3 members and was able to see their email id. Would it be possible for you to hide it for others so people won't misuse it.

Thanks,
Learneng

Thanks for the head-up, I've changed it so that guests can't see anything.

To stop other members seeing it, you have to change the permission. Click 'profile', then 'account related settings'. Then check the 'hide email box'

Hope that helps,
Luke
