Hi Luke,

First of all, I would like to thank you for giving us a new topic to write. It’s mind-boggling and a very good exercise for us. It sure will improve our thinking power and vocabulary of English.

•   Above all we need to be more tolerant of each others religion, culture, race, country etc and should stop any war or hatreds. Because of this not only our children will suffer in the future, we are also suffering in the present.
•   We should plant as many trees as we can. With the increase in the pollution it is necessary for us to plant a lot of trees so our kids will have a better environment to breath in.
•   The above are general points I had for the betterment of the young generation. I would also like to mention a few more points on the individual level: We should educate our kids to the side effects of drugs. It is becoming a trend or you can say a fashion in the current generation to smoke and take drugs. It can be regulated by us, parents. We should take our kids to rehab centers to show them the painful affliction; people go through because of the drugs.
•   We should teach the importance of marriage and family values. With growing divorce rate all over the world, we need to educate our kids about the family values. It’s solely my personal experience but I have seen many single mother and father at my workplace and I have noticed that children are suffering the most due to the split.
•   Education plays a vital role in the overall development of a child. It teaches them a way of thinking and problem solving from different perspectives.

I think I would take a break here.

Hi All,
Please feel free to add your views too.

Hi Learneng,

They all sound like positive ideas, how many of them do you personally apply (not meant as sarcasm, but you mentioned taking children to a rehab clinic to put them off taking drugs; have you done this?).

I hope others reply with their ideas too. Do we all agree with these points, and can we add any more?

Hi Luke,

After seeing my daughter and her friends I came to the conclusion with the above view of mine regarding the drug issue. I showed  a documentary to my daughter and didn't take her to the rehab center since I felt it wasn't required in her case. But it's not the same with other kids at her school who smoke marijuana. My daughter is allergic to smoke and she can't be with a smoker. And family also plays a big role she haven't seen me or my husband (or any relatives in that case) smoking or drinking so she knows it's something prohibited kind of act/habit for her.

About the plants, yes, I do a lot of volunteer work. My town's library organizes these events where we all go together to plant tree or some other activity. if I can extricate myself from my hectic life schedule, I will volunteer at the old age home. My daughter is a member of a club at school called "think globally and act locally", there they look for ways to preserve the nature and do thing to improve the environment. Recently she ran a recycling drive in which all the kids brought plastic bottle from home and we went to a recycling center to dispose them.

So I do implement them on my daughter.

Hi Learneng,

That's great. 'Talking the talk' is something everyone does, and it's nice to see that you also 'walk the walk.' I can't say I am as morally responsible as you, but I would like to be. I think having my son changed me in many ways.

Hi Luke and Leareng,

I don't have any child, so I care little about children's topic. When I talked about my fish and parrot to Luke, I some ideas of what we can do for children.

To breed a small animal is very helpful to children. It can train children's responsibility and love. If having an animal, children will care about how can make the animal grow better and bigger. It will be learnt a lot of knowledge about the animals, how to live with them harmony and how to concern for  the other life on the earth.

To be aware of protecting our planet is essential for us to teach to our children. Frequently hit by earthquake, cyclone, storm snow and other natural disaster should give us alarm that  our planet is becoming worse and worse. To protect our environment is no time to delay. It will be done from everything and children. To reduce the plastics using, to recycle water, to decrease disposal products all can be taught to children. We do what we do and everyday actions can change the world.

Above is my new ideas that we can do for our children.

Hi Posch,

You can tell your daughter to post her writings in the writing example section, so it can be checked by our teacher Luke. In this way she will be able to pin-point her mistakes and can learn from them.

Hi Posch,

Thanks for the encouragement, and I am glad I can help your daughter. Learneng is right, just post in the writing section and I'll correct it for you.

And thanks Learneng for always being on the ball!
