Hi I'm always bothered with my grammar and the way I speak. I usually stop and get blank in the middle of my speech resulting to miscommunication. Perhaps I'm not confident enough to express or tell what I wanted to tell.  I'm not the type of person who speaks a lot.

What is the best approach I should follow in able to improve my communication skills?

Hi Abdelima,

I think that without a doubt the best way is to let go, stop trying so hard, and relax. Conversation flows most easily when you don't pay too much attention to the things you say, and you should bear this is mind.

Every English speaker makes mistakes, and we learn by making them. But even then we continue to have small mistakes in our every day speech. The important thing is not to get stuck thinking about them and stop as a result.

I compare this is playing the piano. There are two ways to deal with a mistake when playing the piano; stop and repeat the section your were on, and continue regardless of the mistake and try to keep to the beat. If you have ever heard someone learning the piano you will note that the first way quickly becomes irritating, whilst the second way slips by unnoticed. This is the same with speaking a language.

I hope that helps,

Luke
